Emptiness

poetry slam

What follows is my entry for the [intlink id="3248" type="post"]Poetry Slam 1[/intlink] contest currently held here at Extreme Writing Now.  What I find amazing is that I am a self admitted slayer of rules and on the edge player, yet I find solace in the strict structure of [intlink id="404" type="post"]55 word flash fiction [/intlink]and the nine line poems, like this one, that I write. Chalk the madness up to one too many blows to the head…

Empty

My Soul Drained

Powerful are the smooth walls

Trailing ever deeper towards the murk below

Into my own darkness the journey is made easier

Nothing holding me back, no net provided

Everything becomes visible when ebon

Stains are purged

Serenity
