John Grisham Tries the Case Of Children’s Fiction

    June 5, 2010
    By Alex Crabtree

I have often wondered how tough it would be to write children’s fiction. For me, I’d have to wash my quill out with soap on a regular basis, maybe mop up some blood,  and forget all about the word libido.

Legal thriller ace John Grisham, author of 24 published novels, has attacked the world of youngster yarns with his latest book, Theodore Boon: Kid Lawyer, and talks about the most difficult aspect of writing a novel for a young audience in the NPR article, John Grisham Tackles Writing Suspense For Kids.

The high point of his discussion relates to how he found it difficult not to do the one thing most authors have the hardest time trying to do. Talk down to the younger readers.

According to Grisham, children don’t want to be talked down to as they want to be approached on the same level ground as the author. The kids want to be equal partners in the conversation.

Foe me, as I mentioned before, the hardest part would be all the housework and putting my toys away.

Years ago I started writing Flash Fiction for just the sheer enjoyment of writing, and now it has turned into a full blown addiction. I can't quit the horse, man! Another dirty little secret about me is my ability to write all kinds of web content. SEO content, articles, blog posts, manifests; you name it, I'll write it. Looking for some help?
