A response to the \'sleeping outside\' prompt. -
Of Artichokes and Desert Rain
This is a food/ meal themed piece. I decided to upload it although it wasn\'t freshly written this week. A slightly longer version appeared in Flashquake. Some time after that, it became possibly the first thing I ever tried recording on Audacity -- with version 1 being too quiet, and me saying \"purch forniture\" and \"180 (!) degree quiet\"... -

Aunt
Aunt Louise’s house lays on the other side of the grass, but first I have to cross through all those mushrooms. I step carefully. I always marvel at how some people will walk right through a yard of mushrooms, and then walk all over their house, spreading mushroom germs everywhere. Even though everybody knows they’re poison.
“Hi there, girlie,” Aunt Louise says, soon as she opens the screen door. She lifts me right off the ground so that the hem my blue wool jumper catches the breeze... -
