    As she watched him walk into the heat waves, she wondered.

    “Why did I just do that?”

    The whole event had happened so fast.

    She started to run after him and make him accountable, but as the border patrol agent stepped out of the car, she didn’t say a word.

    He’d better be at Charlie’s.
