For the first time since June of 2010, when Extreme Writing Now became a network for writers, we are having an open to the public short stories competition. Yes! That’s right! Open to the general public; complete with cash prizes and a judge.
The Spring Rush 2011 Flash Fiction contest will begin accepting submissions on February, 1, 2011 and will close submissions on March 13, 2011. Submissions must have a word count between 700 and 1000 words and based on the loose theme of SEASONS.

Everyone has a story to tell, at least we feel like we do, and a lot of us would like to write a piece of fiction to tell that that story. After all, it is true that fiction is closer to the truth than the facts are. Think about it. When we write a fanciful tale, we are actually using our observations and emotions to tell about us; no matter whom the protagonist is it is the author. And buried in each tale is a fragment of truth about the author; either his observations or emotional investment.

Have fun, and good luck!
